People seem unfriendly at first. This is only because they were unable to speak English to me. Once they get a translator or get an idea of what you are doing they are very friendly. They are very poor and live in mud thatch houses. Working the land by hand with very little support from the government. There are lots of aid organizations that are trying to up lift the rural communities. Foreigners are exporting all the timber and minerals. The locals do not see any financial benefit from this. However there are some beautiful seaside resorts to laze at. If you are a fisherman there is tiger fishing and off shore fishing. Not much fish left near the shore.
